Into the Woods. . .

Hi my friends, our youngest daughter has been working in Alaska all summer. Since May she has lived on a glacier 5 days a week and helped to run the Iditarod tours.

She flew home for 3 days before flying off to Thailand for 3 months.  I swear this child has gypsy blood in her!

We decided to head into the woods (really the canyon) and go
 for a fall hike.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for hiking and we saw early
 signs of fall.

Isn't that sunshine gorgeous streaming down onto the trail?

I'm always keeping my eyes out for wonderful things for vignettes along the way.

Kylee dubbed this as the V tree.

I get so excited over the glorious things in nature.  I'm like a kid in a candy store!

I love the sound of running water and moss.  Oh boy, do I ever love moss!

Look at this.  Do you know what it is?  We are almost positive it was made by a bear sharpening it's claws!

Look at this mama bear who stopped to scratch her back.  :)

We turned around after a while because we had lots to do before she flew out in the morning.

It was such an enjoyable 3 mile hike.

I didn't even notice hubby was hiding behind the sign.
What a jokester!!

These two have so much fun teasing each other.  Here dad is chasing her with stinging nettle.  We all had a battle of throwing the hard center of spent flowers at each other.

It made me laugh when I spied the remnants of the battle on hubbies hat.

Like most people we always hope to capture life along the trail.

Saw a deer, missed that photo.  Saw a squirrel, missed that photo, saw a blue jay, missed that photo.  But I did manage to
 get these two.

and Woody the Woodpecker.

It's amazing how getting out and enjoying nature and God's creations makes you feel so alive!

We spied this hat someone had abandoned in the lot where we parked our car.

I think it has seen better days.  lol!

Happy trails to you!!

hugs,
Jann

Memories and moments, pieces of life woven together. My nephew is in his second year in Vietnam, teaching and he loves it. Kudos to those who fulfill their wanderlust early, instead of pining away on untaken journeys in old age. We just saw a "Walk in the Woods," with R.Redford and Nick Nolte…highly recommend it---hilarious and thoughtful trip on the Appalachian Trail.

Jann, You look so pretty. I know you all enjoyed your hike. What a fun time. Yes, your daughter is a gypsy girl . Even in that adorable hat. LOL. My gypsy grandson that lives near you, is in NYC with his wife of one year now. They are spending a few days there, then on their way to Italy for a second honeymoon. . Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Jann your daughter is so beautiful. Looks like your hike was a real success. Those berries are choke cherries and I have made jelly out of them before, they taste kinda like cranberry sauce. I just love out Utah mountains. The pic of you is adorable! Enjoy your time with you daughter. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Jo

What a gorgeous area you were in! Looks like Fall there. We aren't quite there yet, but you have sparked in me what I love so much about Fall....the natural beauty of it. I love moss too! I tried to grow some in my garden but it didn't work too well.

What a wonderful hike! I haven't been up to see the colors yet, but we usually go up and do some dutch oven cooking. I really enjoyed your "doodling". It adds so much to your journal.
